At Metropolitan Galleries, we have the unique privilege of turning vision into timeless form—and our recent project honoring Barbara Chapin is a true testament to that mission. Commissioned by a private client, this life-size bronze jockey rider sculpture was designed to immortalize Barbara’s equestrian spirit in grand scale and lasting material.
Standing at over eight feet tall, this monumental bronze sculpture was meticulously crafted using the traditional lost wax bronze casting method, a technique celebrated for its ability to preserve intricate detail and artistic expression. From the tilt of the head to the precise positioning of the legs and riding boots, our skilled sculptors worked closely from reference photographs to ensure absolute accuracy and emotional authenticity.
The sculpture is finished with a rich dark brown monochromatic patina, giving the piece a grounded, elegant presence—one that commands attention while honoring the subtle power of its subject. Every fold of the uniform, every expression of movement, reflects our commitment to capturing the heart of the rider and the legacy she represents.
At Metropolitan Galleries, we’ve been designing and producing custom bronze statuary and fountains since the early 1990s. Each project is a story, and each sculpture is a chapter in our ongoing journey of craftsmanship and collaboration. Being a part of this tribute to Barbara Chapin was not only an honor—it was a deeply rewarding experience that we’ll carry with us.
If you’re looking to create a custom bronze sculpture to honor a loved one, celebrate a milestone, or simply bring your vision to life, we invite you to collaborate with our team. With every project, we pour our passion into creating something truly extraordinary.
